Delegates traveled from Sydney to Melbourne in the morning (or the evening before).

12:30 – 1:30 PM	Arrive at Melbourne School of Design, Melbourne University & Lunch
1:30 – 3:00 PM	Session 1: Melbourne: World's Most Livable City During the opening session of the Melbourne program, representatives of state, local and regional planning authorities as well as think tanks on planning and infrastructure all shared their visions for Melbourne and the challenge of maintaining its title of “world’s most livable city” given the pressures of population growth, resistance to densification, ageing infrastructure and infrastructure delivery to underserviced populations.

3:45 – 5:15 PM	Session 2: Walking Tours Delegates then left the classroom behind and participated in a handful of walking tours, exploring the city’s rich culture, heritage, and development projects via gentle strolls through the CBD and city fringe. Tours visited the Docklands area, Queen Victoria Market and Northern Fringe Precinct, Southbank, the Sports and Entertainment Precinct, the Arts Precinct, Collins Street, and the Melbourne Laneways. 6:30 – 8:30 PM	Networking Reception, Melbourne Cricket Ground
	A superb sporting arena at the heart of Melbourne, the Melbourne Networking Reception took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the Harrison Room and Dean Jones Bar – a modern and versatile space featuring sweeping views across the arena.

Friday 3 November

The second day of programming saw delegates flock to the Melbourne School of Design at Melbourne University for 12 presentations on the city’s unprecedented development. With the large number of speakers, the sessions were split into two theaters and carried out simultaneously. While theater one featured presentations in Session 3A: Planning for Rapid Growth in a Multi-Modal City, theater two hosted those in Session 3B: Utilizing Challenging Sites in Compact Urban Cities. After a brief coffee break, Session 4A: Designing for Mixed-Use and Multiple Users and Session 4B: New Challenges & Opportunities for Structural Engineers commenced in parallel.

The afternoon of the final day offered a site-specific exploration of Melbourne’s seminal tall buildings, including a wide range of office towers and vertical communities across the city. After learning so much about these exciting new developments during the days’ sessions, delegates were delighted to finally see some of them in person.
